PRIVACY STATEMENT

We Value Your Privacy

Nielson & Sherry, PSC is providing you with this Privacy Policy as required by federal law. These laws require us to protect the confidentiality of personal information that we collect in the course of tax preparation, tax and financial planning, personal and succession planning, tax compliance, and real estate engagements for our clients. We are also required to protect the confidentiality of personal information that we collect about consumers (such as buyers and sellers) in our role as a title agent providing loan settlement, real estate closing, title abstract, and title insurance services on behalf of our lender clients even if the consumer is not our client.

We observe and comply with all professional responsibility rules that govern our legal practice and scrupulously observe our ethical obligation to protect the confidentiality of all client information. We will protect your personal information and use it appropriately.

This Privacy Policy summarizes the information we collect about you, the limited times we may share it with others, and how we protect your privacy as a client or consumer.

Personal Information We Collect

We collect non-public personal information about you, your finance, your property, and your transaction. The information may be collected from the following sources:

Information that we receive from you when we meet us in person or over the phone; when you send us information by mail, fax, or email; through our website; and on other documents or forms that we use in preparing tax returns, closing statements, or in providing other services to you. Such information includes, for instance, your name, address, social security number, income, investment and other assets, and other tax and financial attributes about you and your property.
Information about you provided to us by real estate agents and brokers, lenders, attorneys, credit reporting agencies, appraisers, surveyors, financial planners or consultants, other service providers and professionals on your behalf, and information obtained from public records.
Information about your transactions with our affiliates, others, or us.
Information we receive when your browser interacts with us on a visit to our website. Such information includes information transmitted on an Internet “cookie”, such as any passwords you use to access one of our Internet or extranet sites, your preferences on such sites, and your Internet Service Provider’s address.
Information we receive from a consumer-reporting agency, such as your credit history and outstanding loan balances, information we receive from creditors, such as your mortgage and credit account balances, loan payoffs, or other lien balances.

Sharing Of Personal Information

We do not disclose any non-public personal information about our clients or former clients to anyone other than our affiliates, without your express written consent, except as permitted by law. The privacy laws permit some sharing without your approval. We may share internally and with non-affiliated third parties on order to affect, administer, and enforce your transaction; to prevent actual fraud, unauthorized transactions, claims, or other liability; for institutional risk control; to resolve claims, customer disputes, and inquiries; and as required by courts and other government agencies.

We may disclose your personal information to affiliates to our firm (but only if such disclosure does not violate any rule of professional ethics). Our affiliates are certain companies, which provide consulting, advisory or professional services for real estate transactions, operate title agencies, and the like.

Protecting Your Personal Information

Keeping your information confidential and secure is of the utmost importance to us. We follow standard industry practices to actively protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of your personal information. We also maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to guard your personal information. In so doing, we restrict access to non-public personal information about you to those employees who need to know that information in order to provide products or services to you and to the other entities mentioned above. In turn, those companies are legally and contractually bound to maintain the privacy of any personal information shared with them. We reinforce this privacy statement with our employees.

Should you become an inactive client, or should our relationship end, we will continue to protect the confidentiality and security of your personal information in accordance with this privacy policy.
